Pakistan has unveiled a major gold discovery valued at $2.87 billion (800 billion Pakistani Rupees) in the Attock district of Punjab. The reserves, stretching across a 32-kilometre-long area, have been confirmed by the Geological Survey of Pakistan following an extensive sampling process conducted at 127 sites.
The discovery amounts to an estimated 2.8 million tolas of gold, equivalent to 32.66 metric tonnes, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to harness its untapped mineral wealth.
Ibrahim Hasan Murad, former Mining Minister of Punjab, announced the find on X, describing it as a transformative moment for the country. “This milestone marks a significant step towards unlocking Pakistan’s mineral wealth, setting the stage for economic revitalisation and new opportunities for future generations,” he stated.
This discovery not only highlights Pakistan’s rich natural resources but also signals potential for growth and investment in the country’s mining sector, offering promising prospects for its economic future.
